Day One of Bluesfest was a short one for me as I arrived into Byron just in time to catch only two acts, Old Man River and Jack Johnson. As I recalled from previous occaisions, Old Man River was much more fun to shoot on the smaller stage, before Jack Johnon and his rather uninspiring performance took the main stage.

A few weeks ago I photographed headshots and stills for actor Frankie Paul Oatway. Frankie and his crew were shooting action sequences with real guns and required a few stills to use for agencies and the like.

After photographing Amanda Palmer’s impromptu ninja gig this afternoon, I headed down to the Zoo for Amanda’s more ‘promptu’ gig (as stated by support act Mikelangelo).
Amanda was supported by Mikelangelo, a guest also who was along for the ride on her Ninja show. Mikelangelo sang an interesting early Tex Perkin’s cover with lyrics along the lines of “I like men with erections”. Entertaining.

This afternoon I went along and photographed the first half of Amanda Palmer’s roving Ninja gig. At 4pm she started at Voodoo Lulu in the Valley. Unfortunately I couldn’t stick around, but at 5pm her and the audience were parading up to IMA for the second half of the gig (which will be finishing any second now).
I’m off to photograph her tonight at The Zoo for Rave magazine. Should be a fun gig.

A few months ago I was asked to shoot a multi-page jewellery spread for Queensland Brides magazine. After spend a week coming up with the concept, with two trips to Confectionary Warehouse, almost two days practising set ups in the studio and then a full day shoot for the real thing, here are the shots.
