August 31st, 2011LiveIt is that time of the year again, the Queensland Poetry Festival. I think this year is my 5th year photographing the festival and as my longest standing clients I always enjoy this time of the year. Not only do the words of the poets inspire me but I also see it as a benchmark to measure how far I have come and what I still want to achieve in the next coming year. The poets and friends of the Queensland Poetry Festival have become more then just familiar faces as the years have gone on. Shooting the Queensland Poetry Festival each year has led to some amazing opportunities, namely photographing the weddings of some of the board members.

Last night I headed out to take shots as the sun rose in the shut down Brisbane CBD.We set out from a little before midnight so we can try and capture the mood of a normally bustingly city now shut down in most parts from people and electricity.

So I headed out again today to document the rising Brisbane flood waters. I’ll keep this entry short and sweet as I am about to nap before heading out again. Above photo is of 9 week old puppy Lola who was resting after walking through rising flood waters on Victoria Street, Windsor.

October 28th, 2010Event
At the beginning of the month I was asked to shoot behind the scenes again at the 2010 Queensland Brides Design Awards. Usually held as a standalone event over in the city at the Sebel + Citigate, this year it was held in conjunction with the now bi-annually Queensland Brides Wedding Expo, over at the Brisbane Convention Centre. This move I liked a lot because a) it was the first chance I got to check out the Wedding Expo, and b) the lighting was a lot better backstage at the Convention Centre then over at the Sebel + Citigate.
